|
Dear Resident ARE YOU EXPERIENCING VEHICLE NUISANCE? West Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team have recently attended two locations that had been brought to our attention where we pulled cars over ,and carried out checks . Unfortunatley the weather was against us and it made it unsafe for officers to continue. Other dates are planned for the future and should you have any roads where vehicle nuisance has been experienced please let me know
Vehicle Nuisance If a vehicle is used in a manner where it is causing alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public it can be classed as vehicle-related Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). Examples of this could include kerb-crawling, dangerous and anti-social driving on or off the road, vehicles being sold or repaired on the street, dangerously parked vehicles or mini-motorbikes and off-road bikes being ridden dangerously. Police involvement Not all nuisance parking is a police matter and should only be reported to the police if the vehicle is illegally parked: on zig zag lines dangerously in a way that would prevent emergency vehicles from accessing
Abandoned vehicles should be dealt with by the council who can help trace owners, issue fixed penalty notices or arrange the removal vehicles if necessary. They can be reported online here: https://www.gov.uk/report-abandoned-vehicle
Spotted a car parked on the pavement? Parking is normally a civil matter so you should speak with your local council. You can find your local council here: https://www.gov.uk/find-local-council
